Thokozani Khupe Fired From Her Party
Thokozani Khupe has been fired from the MDC-T where she was the president, Open Parly reports. This was revealed by MDC-T secretary-general Nixon Nyikadzino who said Khupe fired herself by adhering to the Supreme Court ruling that declared her the legitimate MDC leader and going back to the 2014 MDC structures.
Speaking to the publication, Nyikadzino said he is the acting president of Khupe’s party:
By accepting the court ruling and paying allegiance to its contents and instructions my former president has exited the party voluntarily. We wish her well in her future endeavours though with a heavy heart.
You can never be President of 2 or 3 or 4 different political parties at one point. I am now the acting president of the MDC-T which contested 2018 elections with Dr Thokozani Khupe as the presidential candidate.
Khupe is yet to respond/comment about the development. Meanwhile, the government has confirmed that it will disburse the $7.5 million meant for the MDC Alliance to Khupe’s camp.Â
