Lionel Messi To Leave Barcelona after Champions League

On Sunday night it was reported that Lionel Messi told Barcelona that he wants to leave this summer after their humiliating Champions League.

Barca-based Brazilian journalist Marcelo Bechler broke the news for Esporte Interativo that Messi was demanding an immediate exit after losing faith in the club's plans in the wake of their 8-2 quarter-final thrashing by Bayern Munich on Friday evening.

The 33-year-old has one year left on what is widely expected to be the final contract of his legendary Barca career, a deal said to have a £635million buyout clause.

It has been reported that deal, signed in 2017, also included a clause that allowed him to leave for free at the end of every season but that expired at the end of May.
