THREE armed robbers reportedly took turns to rape a 19-year-old woman after shooting her lover in a bushy area close to Safari Lodge along Oatland Road in the Lake Chivero area on Sunday.
The three unidentified armed robbers found Gift Mupunga, 44, from Glaudina caressing his girlfriend in a parked vehicle close to a lodge and confronted the two and demanded money.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the incident and appealed for information that may lead to the arrest of the armed thugs.
“Police are investigating a case where three armed robbers took turns to rape a 19-year-old woman after shooting her lover.
“On January 29 at around 11am, the complainant and her boyfriend went for an outing and parked their motor vehicle along Oatland Road near Safari Lodge.
“Three unidentified men came and broke the front window glass and managed to open all doors before they started searching the motor vehicle and demanded valuables and cash. They asked the complainant’s boyfriend where he resides and if he had any cash at home.
“The boyfriend responded that he did not have any cash at home and one of the accused persons produced a pistol and shot him on the left leg. The one who shot the boyfriend took the woman into the bushes and raped her.
“He then tied her hands and feet with shoelaces. The accused persons then separated the complainant from her boyfriend, leaving one guarding the boyfriend, and took turns to rape the woman. They left the woman and her boyfriend in the bushes and fled.”
