The City of Harare has resumed water production two days after shutting down its water treatment plants citing a shortage of Aluminium Sulphate.

On Friday, 10 February, Harare City Council suspended water production due to “critically low stocks of aluminium sulphate” which affected all parts of the city.

In a notice issued this Sunday, the local authority said it had received some aluminium sulphate from its supplier and had started treating water and pumping water. Reads the notice:

“We would like to notify the public that we have received some aluminium sulphate from our supplier and have started treating water and pumping water.

“The water however remains low with one pump coming to Warren Control and channelled to Letombo. The other medium pump is going to the western suburbs.

“We urge members of the public to use available water sparingly and be patient while Council addresses the water chemicals situation.”
