Finance Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube and deputy minister for Industry and Commerce, Raj Modi have both lost in the Bulawayo elections.
Mthuli Ncube who was aspiring candidate for Cowdray Park was trounced by Citizen Coalition for Change candidate Pashor Sibanda.
Mthuli Forces ZWL on Government Departments
The Cowdray Park seat has always been an opposition seat as urbanites in Bulawayo have consistently voted against the ruling party in previous elections.
In Bulawayo South, Raj Modi who was the sitting MP having benefitted from the then opposition MDC Alliance internal issues where they fielded double candidates in 2018.

Raj Modi was defeated by a huge margin by Nicola Watson.
Bulawayo just like Harare has remained an opposition stronghold and they have affirmed this by achieving a clean sweep of 12 out of 12 seats in Zimbabwe's largest city.
Both Mthuli and Modi almost won the seats via a technicality after the High Court had disqualified the 12 CCC's Bulawayo candidates on the basis that they had submitted their nomination papers later than the stipulated time of submission.
