Raid on Ardbennie Lodge | Chigumba Could've Caused Accident

A gang raided a lodge in Ardbennie, Harare killing a security guard and injuring nine other workers.

Liberty Chinembiri (24) was in the company of his colleagues when the attack occurred on Tuesday last week. No arrests have since been made and investigations are in progress.

National Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said the incident occurred at a lodge along Iford Road, Ardbennie, Waterfalls.

A security guard, Liberty Chinembiri aged 24, was attacked by unknown suspects while on duty with other nine security guards and was found with multiple injuries behind the lodge. He was taken to Sally Mugabe Hospital where he died on admission,” he said.

Meanwhile, a motorist who was also a victim in the accident involving ZEC chair lady Priscilla Chigumba.

In the message, the traumatised parent shared that she was driving with her 3-year-old daughter as a passenger in her car after a family visit.

The motorist shared that a 300-series Land Cruiser pulled into oncoming traffic from behind a truck. A Blue Honda Fit motorist was driving behind the Landcruiser.

The motorist, who was driving at a safe distance behind the two cars, began to brake and drive to the left after seeing the accident begin to happen.

According to the narration, a petrol tanker tried to swerve off the road to avoid the Landcruiser and collided with the car’s front right. The Landcruiser spun off the road.

The tanker’s cab was directed towards the motorist, who had braked trying to be safe and hit the right side door.

Her back right wheel was hit with an impact that sheared it off and flipped the car over. The vehicle landed on its roof, and the petrol tanker driver helped the passengers strapped in to get out safely.
