Mbuya Nehanda's ‘Medium' Claims White Man's Estate
In a courtroom twist that could rival any soap opera, Harare magistrate Mr Dennis Mangosi has ordered a mental health examination for Elizabeth Parirenyatwa Mucheche, who is facing some rather serious charges.
Mucheche, accused of perjury and threatening to kill a businessman, claims she was driven by none other than the spirit of Mbuya Nehanda to reclaim an estate she says was stolen from her.
The drama unfolded when the State, represented by prosecutor Mr Rufaro Chonzi, argued that Mucheche might be suffering from a mental illness.
They pointed out that her claims about Mbuya Nehanda were, well, a bit out there. The defence, however, wasn't having any of it and demanded proof for why Mucheche should undergo a mental health check.

Mr Mangosi, clearly not one to miss out on the theatrics, ordered Zimbabwe Prison officers to ensure Mucheche gets examined before next Thursday.
The case has been postponed to November 15, giving everyone involved a bit more time to prepare for what promises to be a courtroom spectacle.
The allegations against Mucheche are quite the read. Back in October 2022, at 5 Woodbridge Close, Glen Lorne, Harare, she allegedly whipped up a fake power of attorney document to claim the estate of the late Brian James Rhodes, to whom she has no relation.

Fast forward to July this year, and at the same address, she reportedly threatened to kill Brian Murphy after he reported her for perjury.
