Government Completes Construction Of Multi-Purpose Sports Facility In Mufakose
The government will soon officially open the Mufakose Youth Interact Centre, a Multi-Purpose Sports Facility, a cabinet official has revealed.
Information Minister Monica Mutsvangwa revealed this last Tuesday during a weekly cabinet briefing. She said the responsible Minister had highlighted that construction of a Recreational Centre and a Multi-Purpose Sports Facility at Mufakose in Harare, is now complete and ready for the official launch.
The government has also to date disbursed a total of ZW$11.8 million under the Athletes and Artists COVID-19 Relief Fund which is aimed at assisting athletes and artists affected by the pandemic.
“As part of Government’s response to assist those affected by the pandemic, a total of 2 548 athletes and 867 artists benefitted from the tune of ZW$11.8 million under the Athletes and Artists COVID-19 Relief Fund,” Mutsvangwa said.
The entrepreneurship development support to beneficiaries of the Youth COVID-19 Relief Fund has commenced, and company registration and formalization underway.
The refurbishment of Murewa Cultural Centre, Computer Lab and installation of Computerised High-Speed Internet connectivity is at 30% completion.
Meanwhile, as part of Government’s thrust to upgrade sporting facilities to acceptable international standards, satisfactory progress has been made to-date in renovating the National Sports Stadium as the project is 90% complete. What remains outstanding is the procurement of bucket seats, turnstiles and e-ticketing.
