Trouble for Zim After Sikandar Raza Ban

Zimbabwe’s cricket squad just took a hit as their skipper, Sikandar Raza, got slapped with a two-game suspension.

This means Raza won’t be in action for the upcoming T20 international clashes against Ireland.

Raza found himself in hot water for breaking the ICC Code of Conduct, earning himself a hefty punishment. Along with a 50% fine on his match fee, he also racked up two demerit points.

During the first game against Ireland at Harare Sports Club, Raza went charging towards Ireland players Curtis Campher and Joh Little.

He pointed his bat, broke away from the umpire who tried to calm the situation, and things got pretty heated.

With this latest incident, Raza’s demerit points total has reached four within the last 24 months, earning him a two-match suspension.

On the other hand, Campher and Little were fined 15% of their match fees and received one demerit point each, their first within the past 24 months.

Campher was charged with charging towards Raza, bypassing one of the on-field umpires who tried to intervene.

Little, on the other hand, was charged with making physical contact with Raza after the latter complained about Little obstructing his path while attempting to score runs.

In Raza’s absence, Sean Williams will assume the role of captain for Zimbabwe in the remaining two T20I matches against Ireland, which are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
