An American lawyer has been sent to jail for ten years after hiring a hitman to kill his Zimbabwean ex-wife.
Allen Gessen, a 49-year-old attorney from Massachusetts, was sentenced by the U.S. Department of Justice Northern District of California.
CBS News reported that Gessen’s troubles began when he crossed paths with an undercover FBI agent during a money laundering investigation in 2022.
Gessen revealed his bitter history with his ex, Priscilla Chigariro, including a contentious custody battle over their children.

He sought to bribe an immigration official to deport Chigariro. However, his intentions took a dark turn as he shifted towards hiring someone to end her life.
He offered US$50,000 for the grim task, believing it to be cheaper and permanent, ensuring full custody of their children.
Despite claiming to have previously attempted to hire hitmen at a higher price, Gessen eventually wired $23,000 to an undercover FBI account in San Francisco, believing it would seal Chigariro’s fate.
He also provided detailed information about her whereabouts and routine to aid in the sinister plan.
Gessen faced charges of murder for hire and was ultimately convicted by a jury. He now faces a decade behind bars, followed by three years of supervised release, a combination of probation and parole.
