Chamisa’s Resignation: Hwende in Shocking U-turn
Prominent local political activist Chalton Hwende, who was MDC Alliance Secretary-General and its successor CCC senior official, says former CCC leader Nelson Chamisa remains the opposition's “best foot forward” in the current protracted democratic struggle for reform and change.
Biti Clams CCC VP Post Citing Gweru Congress
Hwende, who is Kuwadzana East MP, wrote on social media:
“On Tuesday I had a 2 hr conversation with President @nelsonchamisa and we discussed his resignation statement. He is clear that he will never return to the CCC and he will make an announcement on his next move in the near future. I agree with his decision. Tomorrow I will begin series of consultations with the people of Kuwadzana East so that I can be guided on the next move. President Chamisa remains our best foot forward to bring change in this country.”
This is a shocking departure from his earlier position where he seemed to have reclaimed his Secretary General position from imposter Sengezo Tshabangu.
Chamisa’s Resignation: Hwende in Shocking U-turn
Hwende is seen as sympathetic to the Gweru Congress faction allegedly fronted by former Harare East MP Tendai Biti and Professor Welshman Ncube who have since reclaimed their vice-president position after Nelson Chamisa’s resignation.
It is yet to be established how deep Charlton Hwende's involvement was with what pro-Chamisa activist Gift Ostallos Siziba called the “Morning After” project which culminated in the signing for double candidates during the August 2023 elections and the damaging recalls that followed the plebiscite.
Citizens have asked why Hwende, Ncube and Biti who now claim positions in the now ditched CCC were quiet and never raised a finger when imposter Sengezo Tshabangu was recalling CCC MPs effectively gifting ZANU-PF a two-thirds majority in parliament.
CCC Task Jameson Timba to Engage Chamisa
It has become evident that the CCC was not only heavily infiltrated by state agents but had even senior members who were willing to collude with ZANU-PF to reverse the people's will.
