On Sunday, 22 September, a burnt body of a man, a sangoma known only as Dr Sihlangu, was found lying in the streets of Stinkwater, Tshwane. The sangoma was accused of murdering Koketso Manganye (18) two weeks ago.
The angry residents allegedly marched to his house seeking answers and to search for any evidence in his rented house that could link him to the cruel murder of the Modilate Secondary School matriculant, Koketso.
The late Koketso was stabbed multiple times and dumped a few metres from her home. Her clothes were thrown in different spots far from where her body was found.
During the community’s fury, he was saved by the police but later released due to a lack of evidence linking him to the murder case. He had been free since then but was unlucky a second time.

The angry residents refused to talk to the media about the matter. The media learnt that the dead man had been renting the house for six years and was performing his traditional healing practices there.

A resident said: “I don’t think the man was well in his mind. No one can live under those conditions. The stench of carcasses, bones, and animal skins in there is concerning.
“When he arrived here years ago, he was a gentleman who dressed well and behaved normally, but now he walks around talking to himself, and the rented house has turned into a ruin like no one is looking after it.”
According to Gauteng police liaison officer Captain Tintswalo Sibanda, a case of murder has been opened and an investigation is underway.
“Yes, police are investigating the incident, and a murder case has been opened.”
